Waxing Heart

This Giant wax heart was a commission, that I just couldn’t make, in the end.

This piece is made by layering layer upon layer of melted wax on top of itself, it is a rather labour-intensive process. I love the organic texture of the layers, as they they on top of each other. This piece was so large, and the tension within it, when the warm wax was added to the cool layers, it began developing these small fractures all over the piece… It was mean’t to be a silver table-top piece for an adventurous client. In the end, I had to admit defeat, and was only left with this wax piece, which fell apart quite quickly.

But she sure was pretty!
