Knitted Wedding Rings
Wedding rings, unique to this lovely couple. This pair has traveled the world, following work in the knitting industry. When discussing the creation of these rings, we came up with the concept of recreating a knit column.
These were challenging rings to make, but also really exiting. To incorporate such an important aspect of their lives, and to do it using a new, interesting sculptural approach was very rewarding for me.
I looped these pieces together, using different gauges of chord, for ‘his’ and ‘hers’, and then cast them in rubber, to create the waxes. Some of the couples’ under-used gold jewellery (including a huge University ring ; ) was then melted down to create these wedding bands.
These rings contain the past and present, while, of course, looking happily to the future!
